Fyne Homes is currently undertaking a programme of Welfare Benefits Checks for all tenants aged 70 and over, helping ensure that older residents are receiving all the financial support they are entitled to.
The initiative is already making a real difference. Following a benefits check carried out by our Welfare Rights Officer, a tenant in Campbeltown was identified as being eligible for Pension Age Disability Payment and was supported through the application process.
The tenant was subsequently awarded Pension Age Disability Payment at the enhanced rate of £114.60 per week.
As the tenant was already receiving full Housing Benefit and a small amount of Pension Credit, the award also meant they became eligible for the Severe Disability Premium within their Pension Credit Guarantee. This increased their Pension Credit entitlement by a further £86.05 per week.
As a result, the tenant's total weekly income increased by £200.65 per week, demonstrating the significant impact that a Welfare Benefits Check can have.
